Benefits of Adult Continuing Education Courses Online
Many industries, including the insurance industry, require that agents and adjustors take continuing education courses to maintain their licenses. This, of course, is done in order to ensure agents stay up to date on information.
Most licenses require you update your license every two years, although your compliance period begins at the start of those two years, meaning you have two full years to complete coursework before the next cycle starts again.
With two whole years to complete CE required coursework, you’d think insurance agents and adjustors would stay on top of it. But this is often not the case. Scheduling time to complete the course can be frustrating for many agents, and quite frankly, many just put it off. The idea of having to go somewhere, sit in a classroom, and then complete an exam isn’t exactly the most appealing scenario for anyone who has been out of school for several years.
That’s why more and more agents and adjustors are turning to online continuing education courses. There are many reasons this scenario is appealing, including being able to work at your own pace, and having the flexibility to complete coursework and required reading at any time of the day. If you want to sit in your pajamas at 2:00 in the morning to study, you can do it with online continuing education.
Whether you wish to complete your coursework gradually or cram all at once (hey, we understand life gets in the way sometimes…nobody’s judging you). With many online programs, and this doesn’t apply to all of them, you can cram in as little as two weeks. We don’t recommend it as far as retaining maximum information, but if you need to do it, the option is there. You’ll want to check first before signing up to see if that’s possible.
The good part about many online CE courses is that you’re emailed a reminder when your next lesson is ready for you. Some people need a little bit of a daily push. If you devote 30 minutes a day to studying or however much time it takes you to complete coursework, it’s really not that bad.
The key with online programs is to get yourself on a schedule so you know ahead of time when you can realistically complete your assignments. Be sensible about it too. If you’re not an early riser, don’t pencil in to get up at 5:00 every morning, thinking you’ll get in two hours of reading. There’s just no way that’s going to happen. But if you have three nights a week you can study from 9-11:00, or a few hours on Saturdays and Sundays why not do it then? The key is making it work for you.
